Revell 04300 Avro Lancaster Mk.I/III 1/72 Scale
The four-engine Avro Lancaster was undoubtedly the most famous of all the heavy RAF bombers of the Second World War. From 1942, she formed the backbone of the night bomber offensives deep in Germany and gained fame through the sinking of the Tirpitz as well as the destruction of the Mohn- and Edertalsperre. The Lancaster was able to record bombs up to 9,980 kg, and the heaviest single bomb was the Grand Slam. It served its service in 68 RAF Bomber Command squadrons until 1945 and flew a total of more than 156,000 deployments. Out of a total of 7,300 machines, nearly half of them were lost during these operations. Today only two airworthy specimens are preserved, one in the UK and one in Canada.
